Key Project Characteristics:
- Design/Build
- Safety issue for employees
- Productivity for materials unloading
- Sanitary handling of products
Problem:
Existing catwalk system was unable to conform to the multiple types of tanker trucks delivering materials, creating a potentially unsafe condition when tankers were unloaded and internally cleaned. Existing catwalk was constructed of materials susceptible to chemical corrosion and was unacceptable when handling food products.
Solution:
Enginuity worked with DFA management and maintenance to design a mezzanine system that fit all the above criteria and install it during a very small window of time during a plant shutdown. The flow of unloading trucks could not be interrupted during normal work hours. The new adjustable mezzanine fabricated in by Enginuity and shipped in modules to the site for fast assembly, accomplished all of the requirements as well as meeting the accelerated schedule.
